Over $12,000 in scholarships awarded!

Updated: Apr 24

Benjamin Franklin once said, "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." We believe this wholeheartedly at the GFWC Miami Springs Club, which is why we've been awarding scholarships since 1942. This is why we work tirelessly year-round to raise money for our Scholarship Fund so that every year, we can proudly give it to amazing, passionate, hardworking students on their way to great futures.

We don't do it alone; we also count on our community, who buy tickets and turn out to support our many fundraising events like our recent Meet The Easter Bunny, The Witches of Westward, the Gingerbread Marketplace, Jail & Bail, Bunco, and the upcoming Taste Of the Springs among others. Also, we count on the support of many generous donors.

On Monday, April 1st, we awarded over $12,000 in scholarships. Our Scholarship Fund consists of the Lena Pearl Wheeler Nursing Scholarship, the English|Fine Arts High School Scholarship, the new Vocational Training Scholarship, and the Jennifer Ator Scholarship, funded by the Ator Family.

L to R- Eileen McDonough, MSWC President, Emily Gonzalez (Lena Pearl Wheeler Scholarship recipient), Natalie Maestre (English|Fine Arts High School Scholarship recipient), Lauren Clough (Lena Pearl Wheeler Scholarship recipient), Kaitlyn Morris (Vocational Training Scholarship recipient), Christina Valdes (Jennifer Ator Scholarship), Jeremy Murillo (Vocational Training Scholarship), Bill Tallman (Jennifer Ator Scholarship Fund).

Congratulations to all the 2024 recipients! We are grateful that we could award you for your hard work. We can't wait to see you accomplish everything you set out to do. Remember, "The best way to predict your future is to create it."—Abraham Lincoln.
