Children in Historic Overtown experienced the magic of the holidays as the GFWC Miami Springs Woman's Club partnered with local Scouting America Troop 334 to collect over 50 new unwrapped toys, in addition to the more than 60 dolls and various books previously donated by the Club members.
On the morning of Sunday, December 22, Girl Troop Scoutmaster Maria Jose Irias and Scouts from Troop 334, along with MSWC President Milly Perez-Crespo, and I arrived at the Woman's Club of Historic Overtown Village.
The club is located at the historic Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum at 480 NW 11th Street in Miami.
Lavette Moore, the club's president, greeted us, and we welcomed children from the community to the second-floor chambers to select their toys.
Thanks to our Woman's Club, our Scouts experienced firsthand how good it feels to volunteer and give back. It was a special moment for all of us.
