Our nursing scholarship is named in honor of Lena Pearl Wheeler, a founding Miami Springs Woman's Club (MSWC) member and widow of Glenn Curtiss, our city's founder. Lena was known for her immense generosity and involvement in the community. To support the Miami Springs Woman's Club, she donated the land to build the Clubhouse in memory of her mother, Mrs. Jennie Potter Neff, and her late husband's mother, Mrs. Lua Andrews Curtiss Adams. Every year an eligible college-enrolled nursing student is awarded this scholarship. The number of scholarships and the amount given depends on the donations received and the club's fundraising efforts.
